SIGHT-ARC: Academic network and workshop series for GIS in history and archaeology

SIGHT-ARC is the working acronym of SIG-HT-ARC (Sistemas de Información Geográfica en Historia y Arqueología), a scholarly network devoted to spatial information, GIS, and digital methodology in historical and archaeological research. SIGHT-ARC is conceived as a continuation of the ArkeoSIG network, establishing itself as a stable forum for scholarly exchange focused on Geographic Information Systems, digital methodologies, and spatially informed interpretation in history and archaeology.

Its purpose is not to replace established international venues, but to complement them through ongoing discussion of work in progress, dissemination of academic opportunities, and closer interaction between senior and early-career researchers. In addition, the network promotes a shared communication channel for circulating publications, projects, events, workshops, and calls for papers related to spatial and archaeological studies.

A number of initial pilot sessions are being organized around virtual workshops of approximately two hours, combining keynote lectures, centered on published work, ongoing projects, or methodological issues, with discussion and feedback by all assistants. The key conferences will be recorded to promote works in a restricted access to members.
